NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Presents: “Community Conversation about Mental Health” July 13, 2019

Description

In 2008, the US House of Representatives established July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. This observance aims to improve access to mental health treatment and services for multicultural communities through increased public awareness. Visit National Alliance for Mental Illness (Nami) www.namiatlantaauburn.org to learn more and help increase public awareness in our community.

January 16, 2013, Former President Barak Obama directed Former Secretary Kathleen Sebelis of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services and Former Secretary Arne Duncan of the U.S. Department of Education to launch a national conversation on mental health to reduce the shame and secrecy associated with mental illness, encourage people to seek help if they are struggling with mental health problems, and encourage individuals whose friends and family are struggling to connect them to help.
