Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Affiliate. Serving on the board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for personal and professional growth. Completing this form will help you understand the skills and time/resource commitments of this leadership position. You may find it helpful to read through the entire application and Board Member Responsibilities before you begin filling it out.

Please fill out the NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Affiliate Board of Directors Application Form by clicking the button below. This application will be kept confidential and on file at the NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Affiliate office. Applications are used by the Board’s Nominating Committee to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. All new directors are elected by a majority vote of current board members.

BOARD MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves a minimum of one (1) three-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve two (2) three-year terms if re-elected.

2. Attend a minimum of four (4) Affiliate events each month (includes board meetings, three community awareness events). The Full Board of Directors meets the 3nd Tuesday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

3. Makes a serious commitment to participate actively in Affiliate committee work. The NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Affiliate is a working board where each director chairs a committee.

4. Stays informed about committee matters, is prepared for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.

5. Builds a collegial working relationship with other committee members that contributes to consensus.

6. Participates in the committee’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.

7. Participates in the advancement of the strategic plan of the Affiliate including fundraising and member recruitment.

VISION STATEMENT

NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Purpose: Educating individuals in Georgia about mental illness in order to improve resources, services and knowledge by reducing misinformation and stigma that is often associated with mental illness in our communities.

MISSION STATEMENT

NAMI Atlanta/Auburn is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). NAMI is the nation’s leading voice, and the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans coping with mental illness.

As a Georgia affiliate of NAMI, NAMI Atlanta/Auburn works in the local south metro Atlanta area to raise awareness, provide support, and educate people and communities about mental illness and its stigma. Serving as the community’s voice on mental health and wellness, we bring desperately needed help to local communities for better tomorrow for all.

NAMI Atlanta/Auburn can be a place to come join and receive free support and education. Here you will be around others who understand what you are going through.

We are stronger when we grow together in knowledge.
