Letter From The President – Stressful Times

April 13, 2020 Letters From President, NAMI News

Greetings from your NAMI Atlanta/Auburn Affiliate President:

For many weeks we have all been struggling to adjust to the “New Normal”; social distancing and still live our lives in a manner that embraces our own personal values and beliefs. Caring for a love one either diagnosed or undiagnosed with Mental Illness can be stressful without factoring in the New Normal practices.

We want you first to practice self- care. When your own glass is empty or half full; you will lack the patience and tolerance that is required to care for another person. Remember to embrace the NAMI Principles of Support when times become challenging.

Lastly celebrate all the small success in your life, and your love one and remember this too shall pass. Continue to be safe and keep those glasses overflowing.

Joanne Govan
President – NAMI Atlanta/Auburn
